Florida Oak trees have leaves that don't look like oak tree leaves should look.
There are more lizards than people. There are more fire ants than lizards. There are more car wrecks than fire ants (or so it seems.)
I love being near the water. So does Beth.
Most people who live in Tampa are not from Florida. An overwhelming majority of people I've met down here have only been here a few years.
White trash here is the same as WV white trash, except down here they have better tans and don't own second-hand winter jackets.
You never have to drive more than 5 minutes to get to a Publix.
Florida has too many different license plates.
People get nervous if the temperature drops below 50F.
It is hard to find an affordable (not a mansion), yet nice house (not falling down) that is not in a deed-restricted community.
My comment to everyone when I was moving down here was this: "I'm moving from a right-leaning blue state to a left-leaning red state." I think that was a bullseye.
It seems that Gov. Charlie Crist is one of the more progressive conservatives. He has like a 70% approval rating, which is rare. He stepped up and made a lot of ballsy changes his first few months in office.
There sure are a lot of parks and trails down here!
It isn't that easy to explain how hurricanes work.
