    Check out this group of young communists who are opposing the *ahem*cough*bullshit*cough* militarization of public education. Er, something like that.

    Only stinking hippies and their worthless brain-damaged offspring have a problem with JROTC and marksmanship training. These worthless beatniks can't comprehend why someone would choose to join JROTC, so they want to see it abolished altogether. They can't fathom personally benefiting from learning learning safe firearm handling skills, so they don't think anyone else should either. How's that for logic?

    Maybe I'm giving them to much credit. They could just be a bunch of dumb high school kids who didn't think before waiving signs and chanting slogans.

    It still worries me that children like these have been brainwashed by their Haight-Ashbury acid-dropping Code Pink parents. Both the school system and the media are complicit as well.

    The future of our country is in jeopardy folks. I'm glad there are fine folks like this in California to help stem the tide of tie-died zombies.

    Well, I'm going to the gun show to relieve my frustration (to the tune of ammo, new guns, and with any luck, some beef jerkey.)

    The group in that picture, according to the banner they are holding, is La Mecha, which stands for Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán, or "Chicano Student Movement of Aztlán."

    MEChA is an Hispanic separatist organization that encourages anti-American activities and civil disobedience. The radical members of MEChA who refer to themselves as "Mechistas," romanticize Mexican claims to the "lost Territories" of the Southwestern United States -- a Chicano country called Aztlan. In its national constitution, MEChA calls for self-determination by its members to liberate Aztlan. MEChA's national constitution starts out: "Chicano and Chicana students of Aztlán must take upon themselves the responsibilities to promote Chicanismo within the community, politicizing our Raza with an emphasis on indigenous consciousness to continue the struggle for the self-determination of the Chicano people for the purpose of liberating Aztlán."

    These anti-American "Mechistas" live with the false illusion that they are being racially discriminated against because they are Latinos while totally dismissing the idea that maybe it is their ideology that is being discriminated against.

    At the MEChA National Conference on March 15 - 18, 2001, the official "MEChA Philosophy" was ratified. An excerpt from the document states: "as Mechistas, we vow to work for the liberation of Aztlan."

    Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I am against JROTC for a totally different reason (I am against public education paid for by tax dollars)

    Well that is some information that clearly validates my point.

    I understand why libertarian-minded people don't want public education funded by tax dollars. I agree, solely because private corporations, in competition with one another, who can be hired or fired, would do a better job... however, while education is public, and paid for by you and me, it is in everyone's best interest to put a stop to anti-American activities within the school system.

    Strangely enough, if this Aztlan group really doesn't want kids to be trained in the use of firearms, I'm not quite sure how they plan on getting the "lost territories" back. I mean, last time I checked, south-western states (aside from CA) are just loaded with armed Americans. Ahhh, irony.
