re-entering the world of the online journal Free Time
    Gregory Morris, 9/15/03 9:45:33 pm
ok, so i'm re-entering the world of online journals. Ya know, I used to have one before the buzzword police came along and mandated that everyone and their brother start a blog.

but i'm not complaining, i think its a good way to get your thoughts out in a public place. and i think that is just plain wholesome. i also don't like the shift key, as you can see, but that is another story.

i've also found that it might very well be more enjoyable to just post replies on other people's blogs, instead of writing my own entries... that means i don't have to be original, just jump in on conversations.

ok, fine, maybe i do have my own thoughts sometimes, but don't tell anyone.

speaking of my own thoughts, i really wish people would stop saying 'so how is married life?'
it is really starting to get old. (not married life dufus, people asking about it!) married life is great. busy, but great. on that same note, i would be busy if i were single, so the whole marriage thing doesn't even enter in to it.

    my recent life, in short:
school is good right now; work is good, but stressful on occasion; still helping the landlord re-attach the vinyl siding that came off in a storm; setting up a blog for my wife... and me apparently; still able to relax, play with my dog, have a cold brew; haven't been able to brew beer in a while, but we did manage to bottle some sassafras rootbeer that just smelled awful; made some soup; ate some soup; typed in my blog; got recursive

and finally, someone elses blog to comment on. when do you have your first drunken post scheduled?

hah. so why did i only see this whole post when i hit reply? and it sure would be nice if it remembered my name and email.

so when you get time, mr. busy, you can add "debug blog code" to your list. :)

ok, the answer to my first question is because you're using less of a blog format and more of a slashdot format. that's cool, except it's annoying to always have to click "read more". but whatever.

if you don't like it, then recode it for me :) I already hacked the hell out of it. It was the most hackable lightweight blog app i could find. most of the popular ones were so bloated... i don't need 800 different side boxes, all i want is a blog-oriented CMS. i will be hacking this when i get the chance though... probably sometime when i'm good and drunk, and i think its funny to make buttons jump around with javascript. but seriously, this software, called myMind, has a good foundation, but it is still young (i.e. i had to add an interface for adding a blog entry... it didn't come with one.) I intend to take it between my fingers and tweak, pull, push and poke, at it until it is fully usable. so yeah, even though i hate it when people bitch at me about the software i write not doing what they want it to do (ala my picture gallery... its a work in progress dammit!), please feel free to comment on things you'd like to see, ways you'd like this to act, etc etc. and when i have time (har har) i'll fix it.
